Abstract- This is a research paper which examines the ways libraries are attempting to serve their under-served populations. This paper identifies key under-served populations, identifies stereotypes associated with these populations and examines ways in which libraries are reaching out to these populations.

LGBTQ Education Program

Abstract- This is a program proposal for a LGBTQ Education program that would respond to information needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning community.The proposed program is not only for the acquisition of materials but for the initiation of select events/activities and the initiation of staff training. This program is innovative in the respect that it is not just to facilitate the collection of resources for patrons or to facilitate activities and events for patrons.

Library OPACs and User Features

Abstract-This paper will examine the idea of a user-centered OPAC by looking at some key OPAC features that enable facilitate user searches such as the use of search terms, the ability to narrow search results, and the use of Boolean operators. This paper will also look at the next generation of OPACs (Web 2.0 and OPAC 2.0) and the new features that are being added to serve users.
